NIG Network: "Home Products
Changes Effective From October 2005
With effect from 1st October 2005 we will be making the following changes to our home products:
Full postcode rating
We are moving to rating at full postcode level. This has the advantage of allowing us to be more sophisticated and precise in the way that we underwrite the risk in each postcode area.
You will notice that you may be able to obtain a quote in postcode areas that were previously declined or needed to be referred to an underwriter.
Proposal forms
The pre-printed forms for Advantage Select, Home, Homeplan and Homeplan De-luxe have been reviewed. The purpose of the review was to make the forms simpler to understand and easier to complete.
These are in addition to the following changes that we made in May:
Buildings rating areas
The number of buildings rating areas increased from 10 to 30. Postcode review A review of postcodes for both buildings and contents showed that:
9% of buildings and contents postcodes moved to lower rated areas;
5% of buildings and 6% of contents postcodes have been moved to higher rating areas;
172 buildings and 385 contents postcodes have been removed from our refer list to enable you to offer a greater number of quotations without referring to us.
Trees and shrubs
As a part of the postcode review you now only need to contact us if there are trees and shrubs that are over 20ft tall and within 30ft of the building for certain postcodes. These are listed in the table headed 'Trees' that can be found in the Home and Advantage Underwriting Guides and on all Proposal Forms.
If there are no trees or shrubs or the postcode is not listed in the 'Trees' table you can quote without referral to us. This change means that refe"
