Airport web sites break under visitor pressure

Airport web sites break under visitor pressure: "UK WEB for major airports are returning 404 messages after chaos caused by an alleged terrorist plot created lengthy queues and cancellations in the UK.
The Heathrow Airport web site has been unobtainable for much of this morning, while BAA sites at Gatwick, Luton and Stansted are also under pressure.
The UK government ordered all hand luggage apart from certain essential items to be checked in for stowing in plane holds today, as we reported earlier.
Details of the restrictions imposed are on the Sky News and BBC websites.
The Metropolitan Police said today that it had foiled a plot to create 'mass murder' by blowing up as many as 10 planes headed from the UK to the US.
Other disruption at European airports has ensued because incoming flights to Heathrow have been cancelled until 3PM UK time. British Airways has already cancelled 200 flights because of the alert and subsequent delays. The BAA has advised people not to attempt to travel today unless it is absolutely essential that they do."
